Balochistan govt issues PKR 43b for uplift projects in less developed areas

Islamabad: The Balochistan government recently released funds worth PKR 43 billion for the execution of 1430 uplift schemes in the less developed areas of the province — a news source reported on December 31. These development schemes are expected to improve the living standards of the people residing in the remote areas of the country’s largest province. Reportedly, the funds were released by the Balochistan Finance Department during the first half of the current fiscal year 2020-21. The government further plans on providing approvals for all the remaining proposal that have been planned for the province — with a total of 1597 schemes planned for Balochistan. According to the details available, the government is looking to complete 1351 new schemes and 499 on­going schemes during the current fiscal year. The approved development schemes include road and infrastructure rehabilitation projects, along with projects aimed at providing additional facilities for education, health, irrigation, agriculture and drinking water to the people of Balochistan — particularly in the less developed areas of the province.
