Parks’ reopening, extension in working hours subject to NCOC approval: Punjab CM

Lahore: The Cabinet Committee to Combat Coronavirus Threat has forwarded its proposals to the federal government for reopening parks, extending the working hours for commercial enterprises, and the closure of marketplaces for two days in a week, according to news sources. The final decision in this regard will soon be announced by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC). Read: Punjab allows reopening of Sialkot’s vending industry on SCCI request The committee meeting was held on Saturday, under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar at the secretariat. During the meeting, the participants presented their suggestions for public safety from the novel coronavirus and agreed to send the proposals to the government for sanctioning the reopening of various institutions under the recently-devised anti-COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs). Additionally, the committee also decided to ensure the wearing of face masks by the masses throughout the province, through police and traffic wardens’ warnings. Read: Govt makes wearing face masks mandatory in public places Furthermore, the cabinet committee permitted the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) to interview 1,000 female doctors – while strictly adhering to the said SOPs. Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, while briefing the media about the meeting, said that a massive awareness campaign will be launched from Monday (June 1) to spread awareness in masses about the SOPs and the protective measures to contain the virus. She revealed that the CM will lead the campaign himself.
