PLRA to establish 115 land record centres at qanoongoi level

Gujrat: The Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) plans to establish 115 Arazi Record Centres (ARCs) at the qanoongoi level across the province by January 2020 – a news source reported. ARCs are currently working at the tehsil level, where these centres have helped to reduce the pressure of clients significantly. The Punjab government now plans to establish new ARCs at the qanoongoi level in tehsils where land record mutations number up to 5,000 or more annually. Read: PLRA generated record PKR 17 bn through ARCs in FY2018-19 For this purpose, the government has approved as many as 1,135 new posts. These include 135 land record officers (LROs), 135 assistant service centre in-charges (ASCIs), 500 service centre officers (SCOs), and 335 Class 4 employees. The recruitment of LROs will be processed through the Punjab Public Service Commission and the rest of the appointments will be made by the PLRA, after the conduct of written tests through the National Testing Service (NTS) and interviews. According to a senior official of the PLRA, the recruitment process is expected to be completed in a couple of months; while the sites of the ‘qanoongoi ARCs’ have been finalised. These centres will be established in existing government buildings, while others will be constructed on the land that some people have dedicated for this purpose.
