RCB disconnects 300 water connections

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has severed up to 300 water connections in a grand operation against illegal constructions and water connections in the district – a news source reported. Notices have also been issued to the owners of illegally constructed buildings under the Cantonments Act; following which the board will their demolition in case their owners fail to submit their requisite layout plans. Read: RCB to improve its public facilitation centre The anti-encroachment operation was conducted in various areas of the city’s cantonment district; including in Quaid-e-Azam Colony and Farooqabad, and on Misryal Road and Peshawar Road. The owners of the illegal buildings identified were issued notices under Sections 185 and 256 of the Cantonments Act. RCB’s Water Cell took action against 300 illegally held water connections which were duly disconnected, and recovered PKR 645,000 during the drive – totalling its monthly recovery to PKR 14 million. Read: RCB determined to regularise wedding halls in its jurisdiction Additional anti-encroachment operations were also conducted in Allahabad Bazaar and Westridge Bazaar, and on Mehfooz Road, Haider Road, Bank Road, and Adamjee Road – among other locations. All encroachments found to be impeding traffic flow in these areas were cleared.
